Transport to and from the wedding will be provided for those who are staying in Logroño and do not wish to drive. Please, let us know if you would like to take advantage of this in order for us to be able to book the transport in advance. On the 1st of August, there will be a bus (or two) from Logroño to Laguardia in time for the church, and there will be buses back from Laguardia after the party. We will let you know exact times and pick-up and set-down places.

There are two churches in Laguardia. The one where we are getting married is Santa María de los Reyes. If you´re not sure which of the two it is, you can check the map at "Information about the wedding day" or ask at the tourist information office.

Information about the wedding day(s)

Den 31. juli: Torsdag aften, fra klokken 19 til 22, moedes vi med dem der har tid og lyst hos Beatriz' faster og onkel (Rosa og Martín) i Laguardia til noget let mad og drikke. De har et 'sommerhus' midt i vinmarkerne i udkanten af Laguardia. I skal ikke tage noget med bortset fra godt humør, men I må meget gerne give besked om I kommer så vi kan forberede det rigtigt. Sådan finder I derud: find A-3210 paa kortet her (Hvis linket ikke virker, så gå til Google Maps og søg efter 'Laguardia Spain'. Du kan gøre det samme med Google Earth.) Der hvor den anden (fra højre/øst) ikon med A-3210 er på vejen, skal I dreje til venstre (når man kommer fra øst). Det er en lille asfalteret vej. Kør et par hundrede meter ned af den til I kommer til et lille hus på højre hånd. Vi har også markeret huset på luftfotoet over Laguardia andetsteds her på siden (under 'marts 2008', under 'Laguardia set fra luften'). Hvis I tager bussen, er der mere information herom under 'Transport' for bustider fra Logrono til Laguardia. Hvis I kører i bil: der er ikke så gode parkeringsmuligheder derude, så hvis I kan, er det bedre hvis I parkerer oppe ved Laguardia, f.eks. ved jeres hotel.

Please note that the doors to the church close 5 minutes after the start of the ceremony. The ceremony starts at 5.30 pm.

Also note that the village is pedestrian only, so if you travel by car, you must park your car outside the walls and then walk to the church.

and here: http://www.villa-lucia.com/localizacion.htm. There will first be a reception with drinks and some light food at Villa Lucía, in the garden in front of the 'tents' (from 7.30 pm onwards). After that the dinner starts and then dance until 2 am. At 2 am, we will continue to a discoteque in Laguardia. It is within a 10-15 minutes uphill walk of the restaurant (see the photo of Laguardia from the air for the exact location - it is under 'March 2008'). There will be a bus from Laguardia to Logroño for those who would like to go back by bus.

Things to see and do

Logroño

• Logroño is not a touristy place but it has some interesting churches worth a visit, and it is a nice town to walk around, for instance Gran Vía – El Espolón – Portales – El Revellín, El Parque del Ebro (along the river), etc. Go to the tourist information office for tips on what to do and see in Logroño.
  
• But if Logroño is well-known for something, it's for its tapas. Don't miss Laurel street and San Juan street (both highly recommended and very close to each other) (http://maps.google.es/maps?f=q&hl=es&geocode=&q=calle+laurel,+Logro%C3%B1o&sll=42.471084,-2.449951&sspn=0.120796,0.233459&ie=UTF8&ll=42.466193,-2.448299&spn=0.00755,0.014591&z=16&om=1). Logroño is the capital of La Rioja, tierra de vino, so go for a glass of good wine when you order your tapas ('un crianza, por favor').
• There is no beach in Logroño, but there are swimming pools if you need cooling down. This one is public and does not require membership: ‘Complejo deportivo municipal Las Norias’. It is just outside Logroño, and you can get there by bus (it takes approx. 15 minutes from the city centre). Buses run every 15 minutes. You can take bus n.3 and bus n.9 (see local buses at ‘Transport’). Bus tickets can be bought on the bus, and they cost 0,56 euros. Entry to the swimming-pool costs approx. 5 euros per person per day.
• Camino de Santiago passes through Logroño (http://www.caminosantiago.com/).
• If you like modern art, go for the Würth Museum outside Logroño (it's only in Spanish). They have free busses to and from Logroño.
  

Laguardia

• Laguardia is a beautiful, small village and it is nice just to walk around in the old narrow streets and the walk/park 'El Collado'. The girls at the tourist information office are very nice and they will give good tips on what to see and do there.

• Churches: Santa María de los Reyes (where the ceremony will take place, with a magnificent entrance) and Iglesia de San Juan Bautista.
• Public swimming pool: there is a public swimming pool on the eastern side of the village. You probably have to pay a bit to get in. We have marked it on the photo of Laguardia from the air (see under 'March 2008').

• The monasteries of Suso and Yuso, in San Millán de la Cogolla, where the oldest records of the Castilian (Spanish) language were found (http://servicios.larioja.com/cultura/).
• The village Ezcaray: if you want to eat nicely, there you will find one of the best restaurants of Spain (it´s included in Guía Michelin!): http://www.echaurren.com/ .
• The town Haro, well-known for its wine. If you have some spare time, stop at 'Los Agustinos' for lunch or coffee. It's a bit expensive but worth a visit.
• The wine museum Museo Vivanco, in Briones (the village is worth a visit too): http://www.dinastiavivanco.com/inicio.asp.
• International Expo Zaragoza 2008 (http://www.expozaragoza2008.es/). If you like hiking, you can also go to the Pyrenees!

If you're coming for one week or more, there are many other options:

• Barcelona: Gaudí, las Ramblas, the sea... (http://www.bcn.es/english/laciutat/barcelona/). If you go to Barcelona, you can spend one day in Rosas and another one in Figueres, where you will find Dali's museum (http://www.salvador-dali.org/museus/figueres/en_index.html).
  
• Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia... all of them have gorgeous beaches and food (Galicia is seafood paradise!). The weather is a bit unstable, but in August that might even be an advantage... If you go to León or Asturias, apart from the beautiful cities you'll find Los Picos de Europa (http://www.picoseuropa.net/galeria/index.php). For hiking, there is La Ruta del Cares. Beatriz has done it a couple of times, first as a kid and later on as a grown up, and she highly recommends it (http://mappic.com/pictureInfo.php?tid=4074).
  
• Heading South? There are so many nice places!! Sevilla, Granada, Córdoba, Cádiz...

Transport

Flights

The closest airports to Logroño are Bilbao (approx. 2 hours), Zaragoza (approx. 2 hours) and Vitoria (approx. 1 hour; 2 if by bus). Other possible airports are Madrid (approx. 4 hours) and Biarritz (approx. 3 hours, but not so well connected by public transportation).

Buses

Here is information about buses to and from Logroño (in general buses are more frequent, cheaper and just as fast as trains). See table 1 for buses to and from Logroño and other villages of La Rioja, including Laguardia; table 2 for buses to and from Logroño and other villages of La Rioja, including Haro, Nájera and Santo Domingo de la Calzada; and table 3 for buses to and from Logroño and other cities, including Bilbao, Madrid, San Sebastián and Zaragoza. Underlined times indicate that the bus goes on the highway; otherwise, it goes through villages (and takes longer). Note: "Salidas de" = "Departures from".

There are airport buses between the airports and city centres. The bus to and from Zaragoza airport leaves from a number of places in Zaragoza, including the bus/train station. It runs every half hour, and it takes about 15-20 minutes. Here are the timetables for the airport bus in Bilbao (Bilbao - Airport / Airport - Bilbao). If you are going through Madrid, the bus to/from Logrono is at the bus station located at the metro station called Avenida de Americas. You can take the metro to/from the airport, but there is also a bus to/from the airport. It leaves from the level beneath the level where the Logrono bus arrives (ask at the information desk), and it costs one euro. There are two buses: one for terminals 1, 2 and 3 (bus no. 200) and one for the other terminals. It will say "aeropuerto" at the front of the bus.

Trains

Here you can search for train connections: http://www.renfe.es/horarios/english/index.html. There is a train station in Logroño, but not in Laguardia.

Car rental

The airports (see links above) all have car rental, and the airlines (see above) typically have a deal with a car rental company. You can also rent a car at the bus station in Logroño.

Parking on the streets in Logroño and Laguardia is difficult (although August is not so busy), so paying for parking at the hotel or in a parking lot is recommended. There is free parking at the restaurant in Laguardia.
